The challenge.

Using hyper-automation as a key driver in our futureproofing of service delivery and elevating our offers to clients. Enhancements including AI, are providing an evolution in user experience and we are consistently scanning the horizon for the latest in digital technology and innovation to enhance customer experience.

SSCL Government had a wide range of business processes automated using UiPath robots (bots) across Human Resources, AR, AP, IT Operations, Contact Centre, and Expenses. Each function had its own complexities and requirements and managing these processes manually was time-consuming and error prone.

The bots were controlled using a basic scheduling application with limited functionality. The lack of a centralised automation management platform made it difficult to monitor, control, and maintain the RPA bots and processes resulting in limited visibility.

SSCL understood that with the expansion of its automation initiatives, the management and maintenance of bots across different departments had become a challenge.

Mindful that compliance and security were at the forefront of the project (to ensure we were compliant with industry regulations and maintaining data security), but keen to develop a more efficient and effective workflow solution, SSCL implemented UiPath Orchestrator.

Our solution.

  • The SSCL Government Automation team worked closely with UiPath experts to identify the processes suitable for automation and prioritise them based on potential benefits and complexity.
  • The necessary hardware and software infrastructure were set up, including the provisioning of servers and the installation of the Orchestrator platform.
  • Existing bots went through a process of code refactoring and configuration to make them compatible and manageable with the Orchestrator platform.
  • The Bots were deployed to their respective environments, and process schedules were configured according to business requirements.
  • The Orchestrator’s monitoring capabilities were utilised to track bot performance, identify issues, and optimise processes over time.
  • SSCL Government employees were provided with training to effectively use the Orchestrator platform. Ongoing support was also offered to address any technical or operational challenges.

Result.

The implementation of UiPath Orchestrator returned significant benefits for SSCL Government. By automating various processes, the company achieved higher operational efficiency, reduced manual errors, and improved overall productivity.

With optimised processes and reduced manual intervention, there were substantial cost savings over time. The real-time monitoring and reporting also provided better visibility into process performance, allowing for quicker decision-making and issue resolution.

Another result was the platform’s scalability ensured that the automation infrastructure could accommodate the company’s growth and expanding automation initiatives.
