Renowned British explorer Captain Preet Chandi MBE, nicknamed Polar Preet, has just announced her next challenging expedition, she hopes to break the World Record and become the first woman to complete a solo, unsupported crossing of Antarctica.
At SSCL, we care about making a difference in our communities, encouraging all colleagues to volunteer, fundraise and support their local communities. We are therefore proud to be amongst those sponsoring this inspirational woman on her record-breaking attempt, helping her to achieve her dream.
Team Army will be supporting Preet a British Army Medical Officer. Team Army and Team Forces are co-brands of an MoD endorsed programme which helps to fund sport, challenge, and adventure in the armed forces community to improve health, wellbeing and recovery.
Captain Preet Chandi MBE commented:‘I’m so grateful to have so many incredible sponsors on board. Even though I’m physically alone on the ice, I know I have so many supporters with me each step of the way. This expedition would not be possible without my sponsors.’
Preet, a fantastic female role model will begin her journey at Hercules inlet on the inner coast of the Ronne Ice Shelf, heading to the inner coast of The Ross Ice Shelf via The Reedy Glacier. She will be pulling her pulk (sled) with all her kit and equipment which at the start will weigh about 120kg, for a duration of around 75 days for over 1,000 miles, facing temperatures as low as -50°c and wind speeds of up to 60mph.
